Brambleridge Avril Sparrow. 2013 Connemara Sport Horse by Winmaur Sargent Pepper and out of Sassy Sister by Grange Finn Sparrow.

Avril is the only foal from our previous Grange Finn Sparrow mare, Sassy Sister. Sister had a lengthy career in eventing, pony club, foxhunting and show jumpers before her retirement in her late 20’s. She had Avril at the age of 20! *Grange Finn Sparrow, Avril’s grandsire, was a very well-known Connemara stallion that sired numerous pony and pony cross eventers including the 5* horse, Sparrow’s Nio. Other Advanced horses include Windswept, Meadow Sparrow, Wil’Ya Love Me, & Galway Blazer. There are too many to count that have competed at Preliminary & Intermediate. Despite siring a relatively small number of foals in the USA he left a big impact on the sport of eventing and we have specialized in carrying the line on.

Avril’s sire, *Winmaur Sargent Pepper, was exported back to England after a number of years statestide. He himself competed in dressage & in the jumpers, as did his sire, Snowford Bellman. That line goes to Skippy, who is most known for siring the prolific eventing stallion, Jumbo. Jumbo is the leading ‘all time sire’ of competition horses and competing mares in British Eventing. He sired 5* horses including Headley Brittania, Avebury, Mr. Chunky, & Jollybo. He did not leave many foals here in this country, so we feel very fortunate to have one!

Avril unfortunately sustained an injury as a foal that has prevented her from having an under saddle career. Despite only being pasture sound she is a phenomenal mover; she has a large, lofty stride with powerful push from behind. She would’ve made an exceptional dressage pony! She passes along her movement, a sensible nature and the scopey jump from her pedigree.
